Beliefs & Values
We are glad you’ve paused at this point to explore more of EBC. However, we are confident that most of you who will bother to dive this deep into our site are well beyond the point of seeking Christ and/or satisfying your curiosity about EBC. In fact, we have assumed, rightly or wrongly, you are at the stage of entertaining EBC as your spiritual home. Irrespective of whether or not we are wide of the mark of your intent, we, nevertheless, thought you might want to know:
OUR PURPOSE (THIS IS WHAT WE DO):
Connecting People to Jesus Christ
OUR PROCESS (THIS IS HOW WE DO WHAT WE DO), known around EBC as the 4G’s:
1. GATHER: We gather to celebrate Jesus Christ, daily and weekly.
2. GROW: We grow through groups, small and study.
3. GIVE: We give money and minutes to church and community—local, national, and global.
4. GO: We go to share the love of Jesus Christ (in word and deed) with those within our ever-expanding circle of influence (family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers).
OUR CORE VALUES (THIS IS WHO WE ARE): which both describe and determine what we will do, are summarized in the following statements:
We believe that Jesus Christ, the highest and clearest revelation of God, is the ultimate point of reference for making personal and collective decisions. (Mark 9:1-8)
We believe that Christian Scriptures are authoritative in all matters of belief and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16)
We believe that Christ has called and equipped us to minister to the needs of people, both within and beyond our congregation. (Matthew 28:18-20)
We believe that the gospel should be packaged in the cultural forms with which the “target audience” identifies. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)
We believe that God has shaped each believer so as to fulfill His purpose for the church and the world. (Ephesians 4:1-17)
EXCELLENCE IN MINISTRY:
We believe that God has called the church to strive towards excellence in the ministry and mission. (Malachi 1:6-14)
PARTNERING THROUGH PRAYER:
We believe God works change, both personal and societal, through the prayers of believers. (Acts 12:5-17)
